1. What types of HVAC systems will the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat work with?

The Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat will work with most brands of the following types of systems:

Gas Furnace – Single Stage and Multi Stage
Electric Furnace or Air Handler
Electric Cooling – Single Stage or Two Stage or Two Speed
Electric Heat Pump – Single Stage or Two Stage or Two Speed

2. Can I install the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat myself?

YES. In most cases the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat can be successfully completed as a do-it-yourself project. However, there are a wide variety of heating and air conditioning systems which may add complexity in some cases. If you are unsure about any step of the installation, you should contact a professional heating and air conditioning contractor.

3. Can I enroll more than one thermostat on my Schlage LiNK account?

YES. Multiple Z-Wave enabled thermostats can be independently controlled and operated with your Schlage LiNK account.

4. Is the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat programmable?

YES. The Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat can be programmed for up to four temperature changes per day. Multiple unique daily schedules can be created. Each daily schedule can be applied to one or more days of the week. Setting the schedule is easily accomplished from your Schlage LiNK account. Simply select the schedule you desire using a series of drop down boxes. Alternatively, scheduling can also be programmed locally at the thermostat.

5. What type of alerts will the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat provide?

With an active Schlage LiNK account, the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat can provide text message and email alerts including: filter change reminders, out-of-range temperature alerts, thermostat keypad changes, and maintenance reminders.

6. Can other Z-Wave controllers operate the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat?

YES. Z-Wave controllers supporting the Specific_Type_Thermostat_General_V2 command class will be able to operate this thermostat within your home. However, some of the enhanced remote monitoring and control features may not be accessible without a Schlage LiNK account and a Schlage Bridge, available with the Schlage LiNK Starter Kit.

7. Can the Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat be integrated into Z-Wave scenes?

YES. As an example, you can set up your thermostat so that entering your code into a Schlage Wireless Lock could automatically adjust your Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat to a preferred temperature setting when you arrive home.

8. What happens if there is a problem with my internet connection or Z-Wave communications?

Your Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat is not dependent on the Internet and will continue to heat or cool your home based upon the schedule and thermostat settings you selected. All thermostat settings available in your Schlage LiNK account can also be changed at the thermostat. However, thermostat schedules defined in your Schlage LiNK account will not operate until the Internet or Z-Wave communication problem has been resolved.

9. What happens if my house loses A.C. power?

The Trane TZEMT400 Thermostat will not operate when household power is lost. All system settings, except time and date, are retained in permanent memory and do not need to be reset after any length of power loss. If power is lost for longer than 24 hours, the time and date may need to be reset at the thermostat.
