1. Is this product any more or less secure than a regular deadbolt?

The Schlage Wireless Deadbolt is just as secure as a regular deadbolt. The big difference is you have more control over who can lock and unlock the deadbolt. Also, when someone uses the lock, the Schlage LiNK System can notify you what time the Schlage Wireless Lock was operated and the code that was used.

2. Are codes more secure than keys?

Since you can create, activate and deactivate individual codes, they are actually more secure than keys which can be lost or duplicated.

3. Can someone guess my code?

Built-in security measures make it very difficult to guess someone's code. Once an incorrect code has been entered four times in a row, the Schlage Wireless Lock disables the keypad for 30 seconds. In the interim, an alert is automatically sent to you via text and/or email notifying you someone was trying to access your home. All of these measures make it very difficult for someone to stand at your door long enough to try and guess your code - remember, there are also 10,000 possible code configurations to chose from.

4. Can't someone see which buttons have been pushed repeatedly after they show wear from use?

NO. The keypad in all Schlage Wireless Locks is specifically designed and built to prevent this.

5. Can someone hack into the system and open my door?

The entire Schlage LiNK Solution is completely encrypted. Via the web, the Schlage LiNK Solution incorporates SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protection. This is the same encryption used by the banking industry for financial transactions. In the home, as long as the Schlage Bridge is used, the Schlage LiNK Solution is also fully encrypted to the Schlage Wireless Lock.

6. What if my home network itself is not secure? What is my security risk if I access the online user portal over an unsecured connection?

All communications associated with the Schlage LiNK System are encrypted using industry standard products. However, it is the responsibility of the consumer to exercise discretion and observe all safety measures that they deem necessary to prevent unauthorized access, misuse of passwords, or misuse of other information on their computers, network, or other equipment.
