1. Can you really lock and unlock the door remotely?

Yes, for the Schlage Wireless Lever Lock, you can remotely lock or unlock the door by clicking on the activate button next to your lock on the Schlage LiNK web interface or cell phone interface. For the Schlage Wireless Deadbolt, however, you can remotely activate the lock which makes it possible for the door to be unlocked by someone turning the outside thumbturn. Since door frames aren’t always aligned and a deadbolt can require more leverage to engage or disengage, the deadbolt requires manual operation.

2. Do I need to use the keypad or is there a manual override?

Yes, there is a manual override. Just like any other lock, this one comes with mechanical keys that can be used anytime – regardless of whether or not there is an internet connection, the power is on, or the battery has failed. The mechanical keys will always work.

3. How long is the battery life? How will I know when to replace it?

Since Schlage Wireless Locks are designed to use very little battery power to operate, the batteries included should last approximately 3 years. There is a battery life indicator on the lock itself, as well as on the Schlage LiNK web interface.

4. How many codes can you have? How many exist?

Currently, you can have up to 19 unique four-digit codes active at the same time. Since each code is four digits, and there are 10 numbers on the keypad, there are around 10,000 different code combinations possible.

5. What is the range of the RF signal on the lock? Does my computer router need to be close to my door?

Signal range is approximately 60-100 feet. And, each additional Z-Wave device you have in your home actually strengthens the signal between your Schlage Wireless Lock and the Schlage Bridge. If your Schlage Bridge is a long distance away, just plug in the Schlage Light Module (included in the Schlage LiNK Starter Kit) to an outlet about half-way between the lock and the Schlage Bridge and it should work fine.

6. How is this product installed?

The Schlage Wireless Locks install in the same user-friendly manner as standard Schlage door locks. The Schlage Bridge has also been designed to ensure a simple, user-friendly installation. See the installation instructions.

7. If the internet is down, can I still get into my house?

YES. The keypad operates on battery power, so it still works when there is no internet connection. You can also use the included key. The only thing you cannot do, if there is no internet connection, is access the Schlage LiNK online user interface and remotely monitor the system.

8. If I want to terminate my monthly contract and stop paying the monthly fee, will my locks still work?

The mechanical and electronic features of the Schlage Wireless Lock will function even if you want to cancel your payment plan. The user codes are stored in the Schlage Wireless Lock(s) and will not be deleted unless you delete them yourself. You can even reprogram the codes manually if you do not want to use the online interface.

9. Do the wireless functions of the lock cease if I stop paying the monthly fee?

YES. The ability to control your devices via web site and cell phone will be terminated if you cancel your Schlage LiNK account.

10. Can I control the system from any location?

Since the Schlage LiNK System utilizes both the internet and all cellular networks, you can use this solution anywhere you have access to the internet or anywhere your cell phone can send and receive a signal.

11. What if I move, can I take my Schlage LiNK system with me?

YES. As long as your new home has high-speed internet access, you can use the Schlage LiNK System. The Schlage LiNK System does not store any physical location information. The Schlage Wireless Locks can easily be removed and reinstalled at your new home.
